Join the Fight Against Hunger: Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Returns May 10th

Second Chance Last Opportunity is proud to partner with the National Association of Letter Carriers and the United States Postal Service for the 2025 Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the nation’s largest single-day food collection event, taking place on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Now in its 32nd year, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has delivered more than 1.82 billion pounds of food to local food banks and community organizations across the country. On May 10th, letter carriers throughout Sarasota County will once again collect non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes and doorsteps—helping families in our area facing hunger.

Second Chance Last Opportunity is calling on the community to get involved!

How You Can Help:

1. Donate Food:
Leave non-perishable, unexpired food items in a labeled bag by your mailbox before your
mail carrier arrives on Saturday, May 10. Suggested items include canned goods, pasta, rice,
peanut butter, cereal, and other shelf-stable staples. Every donation—big or small—helps feed
families right here in Sarasota.

2. Volunteer:
SCLO is still in need of volunteers to assist in sorting the donated food at our Emergency Crisis
Center (1933 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way) on May 10th. If you are interested in volunteering
please contact SCLOprograms@gmail.com or call 941.360.8660.

Help us re-stock our shelves!

Second Chance Last Opportunity

Second Chance-Last Opportunity (SCLO) is a community-based 501(c)(3) grassroots organization that has been offering life management skills classes to at-risk teens and their low income and/or homeless families since 1995.

Our clients often face multiple health, social and economic challenges, and therefore our approach is holistic as well as empowering. Along with the strategies and skills for success gained from our classes, we offer counseling, health education, youth programs, food distributions, shelter referrals, all with a dose of tough love, if appropriate. Most importantly, we give back the responsibility for turning their lives around to the individuals we serve.

We are proud to share the results we are achieving as well as information about our financials, governance, management, and needs via our profile at The Giving Partner.  Click the logo to review our nonprofit profile there.
